Dear Sirs,
with this circular we would like to inform you about the possibilities of receiving compensation during school ordaycare closures due to the coronavirus crisis.
Anyone who has to look after their own children and cannot go to work because of school or kindergarten closure should be protected against excessive loss of income. The Infection Protection Act was amended for this purpose.
Accordingly, parents in employment will receive compensation of 67 percent of their monthly net income (maximum 2,016 euros) for up to six weeks. The payment is made by the employer, who can submit a reimbursement request to the responsible state authority.
The prerequisite for this is,
- that working parents have to look after children under 12 years of age because care cannot be provided otherwise
and
- that flexitime or overtime credits are exhausted.
The Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs has compiled further information on labour law issues in connection with the corona pandemic on https://www.bmas.de/DE/Schwerpunkte/Informationen-Corona/corona-virus-arbeitsrechtliche-auswirkungen.html
Stay healthy!
