We already planned our Christmas party this year in summer - in the end of our hiking day. Because we spent it with a wonderful day paddling on the Spree. Of course, we imagined this "paddling on the Spree" in winter just as beautiful - snowy trees, glittering water, a steaming cup of mulled wine for the slight wavering of the canoe...
That's how it was supposed to be.
However, the closer December 7, 2018 approached, the more autumnal the weather became. Therefore, we took the train from Dresden and Berlin to Lübbenau early in the morning and in the drizzle. Arrived there we were greeted (almost) by the sun and after warm hugs and distribution of blinking Santa Claus badges, we went to the well-known boat rental. We were professionally served the finest goulash in the newly built winter garden and after the delicious blueberry mulled wine from the neighbouring village, nobody paid attention to the weather. After our refreshment, we all sat down in a boat and paddled in the drizzle through the lonely yet charming Spreewald landscape. The chocolate liqueur in waffle cups made our eyelids a bit heavy in the following museum visit. Nevertheless, a courageous walk to Café Am Nussbaum awakened tired spirits. With a fresh head, we enjoyed airy pancakes and fine Christstollen. The highlight of the afternoon, however, was our annual „Crappy Secret Santa gifts" - everyone had fun and a nice new present. Also at the following DMP-SKS-Tabu everyone was fully present. We rounded off the evening with a Christmas buffet, a funny chat and vodka in sour cucumbers.
